The Datia palace build by maharaja Bir Singh… It is situated on an isolated rock on the western side of the city Datia… boasts of a glorious past…. though this palace was never inhabited… it still remains as one of the amazing and beautiful places to visit for those who are really interested in the Mughal and Rajputana architecture and their grandeur.
It is totally made using stones and neither wood nor iron is used in this whole palace construction…. it off the tourist circuit so not many visitors crowd here, is a bonus… it has a breath taking view sitting a top an isolated rock.. its about 75 Kms from the Gwalior city… this little known piece of architecture, lacks care and maintenance and shows the wear and tear of time…..
The eastern part of the palace is very beautiful and the tombs contains beautiful pictorial drawings, the windows are beautifully carved out of stones…. its a seven storied palace with amazing views from the top floors… however some parts are totally dark and eerie… and this backdrop makes you wonder…. how it might have been in those days… running around the corridors… why was it not inhabited….
